herewith I announce that our „Birke“ will be a complete carnival-free zone in February! No typical carnival-greetings like “HELAU” from the city of Mayence or “ALAAF” from Cologne. Nevertheless our Birke team is in a great temper all year long, especially right now: just by the comments, hotel reviews and the high rate of recommendations of our loyal guests we have been awarded to one of 332 Holidaycheck Top Hotels 2011 of the world. In 2010 the Holidaycheck AG, Germany registered more than 400.000 posted reviews on their website. Since there are listed more than 100.000 hotels, Holidaycheck decided to award the most popular hotels for outstanding services.

On February 5th starting at 7 p.m. our Wine & Dine No 27 is taking place (save a ticket). Our first guest in 2011 will be Michael Graf Adelmann from the correspondent vineyard of Burg Schaubeck in Wurttemberg. Since 1297 wine grapes have been cultivated around the fields of the medieval castle. Today Michael Graf Adelmann runs the winegrowing in the third generation of his family. The wine has an acquired taste and is dry, especially his red wines: “Tough”, he says! Six chosen, special and delicious wines of his vineyard will be presented to our guests. Gabriele Schnura from the Kieler Weinkontor completes this selection with six comparable foreign wines. In addition, the team of the Fischers Fritz serves a noble 6-course menu, prepared of fresh seasonal and regional products. You can order your tickets at a price of EUR 89.00 per person under 0049 (0)431-5331-444. The price includes an aperitif, a 6-course menu, 12 wines and mineral water. If you feel like staying afterwards, we offer you our special arrangement “Wine & Dine Weekend” for EUR 156.00 in a business double room including accommodation, breakfast buffet and use of our wellness area.

We prepare your choice according to your wishes and combined with regional and seasonal vegetables and potatoes.
You like it WILD? You better do – on February 27th starting at 2 p.m. our popular Slow Food cookery course is taking place again. The breeder Detlev von Bühlow will present fresh venison from Holstein as main ingredient for the special menu that you will prepare together with our kitchen chef Pierre Binder.
