Each morning I start with a tour through our house. At the moment I stay a special place longer: I am taken with the cardiac wall, a exhibition of 50 framed artificial cards. Each card is the photography of unique artworks which have been designed in 2008 within the campaign "KunstHerz" by well-known artists from Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg in the. You can buy all heart motives individually, as a whole or on request with a special wooden framework here with us. With the purchase of the cards you support the combined projects of the foundation "KinderHerz" with the "KinderHerz" team of professor Kramer of the university hospital Kiel. But now out onto the water. Today I am in for a sailing trip with friends. But before I quickly get the sun care products of La mer on the basis of sea sludge and the algae of the North Sea from the Birke Day Spa. With them I am protected the whole day perfectly. On the mast the rigs clatter, the sails expend slowly in the light breeze, the sun sends glittering flashes from the waves of the Baltic Sea. I leave everything behind, enjoy the silence of the boat at my trip on the Kiel Fjord. Here I am at home, here in the most beautiful states of Germany. In front of me the wide horizon, next to me the big cruise ships on their way to Oslo and Gothenburg. At the shores the many small harbours. You are up for more, for the sea? I am looking out and breath the salty air. I am recharging. Regain new ideas for our harbour, the Birke. The June is the Kiel Week month. The city pulsates, the fjord is full of boats; artists, scientists, sportsmen, politicians and onlookers are drawn to our capital. To whom it is to hectic, they moor in the Birke. Here one finds a quiet place away from the loud bustle of the city, can relax in the beach chair in the inner courtyard and let us spoil them in the Birke Day Spa.
In the Birke the north is at home. And the north learned how to cook. What was still culinary fallow land years ago, is today a "blooming" landscape. Meanwhile many restaurants appreciate the fresh products before the door and to use them. Also the restaurant Fischers Fritz in the Birke is one of them and is founder member of "Feinheimisch - Genuss aus Schleswig-Holstein e.V." (Gusto from Schleswig-Holstein) and member of Slow Food. Enjoyable, sensible and regional food as an opposite trend to fast food - for this we stand up in the Birke. And we pass on our knowledge. On 7th June from 2:00 pm there is a Slow Food cookery course in the Birke again, this time to the theme: "Everything for the barbeque". Everybody can take part, member of Slow Food or not doesn't matter. We prepare together with you chutneys with regional products and barbeque different fish, meat and vegetables on 2 different grills of the company Weber. You get some information on the products, chilled wine and small extras and we surely eat (price per person EUR 89,00). Best is to book it under 0049 (0)431-5331-435. That is also the right "order number" for a table for the monthly "King's Prawn Day" in the Fischers Fritz. On 11th June from 6:00 pm you can try this delicious giant prawn, fished offshore Norway, in many variants. In June we also have herring on our menu for you.
You would like to get to know us "Feinheimisch" better? A good occasion is on 5th July. At Gut Bossee in the idyllic natural park Westensee we organise the Feinheimisch summer feast market. Feinheimisch producers and chefs present you at different stands delicious gourmet bites. You can feast and enjoy, take a stroll under old trees and simply have a good day in the most beautiful states of Germany. Together with us, your team of the Birke.
