June is the Kiel Week month. The city is vibrating, the fjord is full of boats, artists, scientists, athletes, politicians and curious onlookers are drawn to Kiel. I’m in great anticipation for the biggest sailing event of the world which puts our capital in a colourful buzz from the 19 till 27 June. The "Birke" has a waterproof offer for "sea dogs" for which we have some free places left from 18. till 21 June. Get enthusiastic about the flair of thousands of sailing boats, windjammers and cruise ships. Also for our annual exchange co-host Florence Walter from Strasbourg the Kiel Week is an adventure. "I don’t know what this is. But sailing at least once is a must" said the 19-year old who came from the "Lycée d`Hôtelerie et de Tourisme Alexandre Dumas" for 4 months in the "Birke". "Kiel is a beautiful city. I love walking at the sea or going to town by the Birke bike. The people here are really nice."

Enjoy from 6:00pm fresh sea food specialities on ice at your choice, fish from the varied offer from the Baltic and North Sea, our lakes and the North Atlantic which we prepare according to your wishes and together with regional and seasonal vegetables and potatoes. And our restaurant Fischers Fritz is founder member of "Feinheimisch – Genuss aus Schleswig-Holstein e.V.". Would you like to get to know is better? A good opportunity is on 10 and 11 July. On Gut Bossee from Detlev on Bühlow in the idyllic nature park Westensee we organise the Feinheimisch summer market which we operate on 2 days this year due to a high number of visitors last year. We just started with the preparations for the colourful summer festival at which seven gastronomers and 20 of the best producers of Schleswig-Holstein present their products for tasting and taking home. You can feast and enjoy, walk under old trees, listen to a jazz band, make a carriage ride, watch hounds play or you can simply have a good day in the most beautiful state of Germany. Best is to start and end the tour from the "Birke" with our rental bikes. Then it will be a proper outing.
